How are online visitors finding my website?
This is a question that arises quite often in our S.E.O. Education Sessions, so I thought I’d write a quick post about it.
Stats show that 85% of home buyers are going online to find listings. Many of those online buyers are using search engines to find listings in the location of their choice, and are using specific search terms to find the information they are looking for.
How do you know what search terms online visitors are using to find your website? The answer to that is within Ultra Stats! If you have a Professional or Premium Point2 Agent account, you will have access to not only what search engines most of your visitors are using, but you’ll be able to see the top 65 search terms people are using to find your website online.

Knowing what search engine the majority or your online visitors are using will help you decide weather or not you want to invest in paid advertising for that search engine. Most search engines allow you to buy pay-per-clicks, or AdWords that will increase the traffic to your website.
Why should you know what search terms people are using? This information will give you insight as to how you’ll want to customize your website to meet the unique needs of your online visitors. By fine-tuning your site so that it is aligned with how visitors are finding you will not only help with your placement on search engines, it will generate more quality traffic; the more traffic to your website, the more leads it will capture for you.
To locate the 'Search Term' statistics within Ultra Stats you will first need to be logged into your Online Office.
- Under Statistics click on Ultra Stats
- You will then need to click on the Portal ID number
- From the menu on the left click on Referral
- Then click on Search Terms
Based on what Ultra Stats reveal to you, you’ll want to update your Meta information. Be sure that the content on your pages are directly related to the keywords you decide to use. These keywords basically help search engines decipher what type of content is on your pages, and tells the search engine how to index your site.
