It's hard to believe that 2009 is almost over. Where did the past 12 months go?!

Not only is the Education Team celebrating the approach of 2010, but we are also celebrating our website's 1st Birthday! Our 'baby' is growing up...(wiping tear from eye).

A huge thank-you to everyone who has visited our site, provided feedback, and used the resources we enjoy creating and maintaining. To kick off the new year and our January birthday month of celebrations, we are unveiling our new Education Session offering and schedule. The previous Education Sessions have been revamped, a few added, and a few will be moved to video resources in the coming weeks.

Stay tuned for more enhancements, birthday celebrations, and announcements. In the meantime...Happy New Year!

Have you seen the Real Estate Confidence Index?

Each month Point2 surveys its members across North America to get a sense for how real estate professionals feel about their current and future market conditions.

Respondents are asked to rate on a scale of 1-10, how confident they are in their current market, in their market in the next 3-6 months (near term), and in their market in the next 12-18 months (long term).

Once these responses are gathered, a statistical mean on the 1-10 scale is derived, and this becomes the current Real Estate Confidence Index.

Imported Listings Are Now Editable Through the Online Office!

When Point2 initially started the listing import process of receiving listing feeds from MLS's, we did not have the functionality to edit the listings imported from the MLS into the Online Office (nor could our members remove listings from the Online Office if needed). All updates made to these listings had to be done on the MLS end and from there updated through the listing feed to the Online Office.

Point2 Agent members are now able to add additional listing photos to their imported listings, as we only receive the first 15 photos on the listing from the MLS (and our members possessing the Professional or Premium membership are given the ability to add up to 36). That being said, once an Agent or Broker has edited the photos of an imported listing (whether they have added photos or made changes to existing ones) within the Online Office, that particular listing will no longer receive photo updates from the MLS.

Agents and Brokers can also now add attachments to their listings if they wish to do so. With a Point2 Agent account, users have the ability to add listing brochures and any other listing attachments they wish to their imported listings.

In addition, we included the functionality of the Seller Area Login, which can now be enabled through the Online Office for imported listings. This means that Agents have the ability to send their Seller a login so that they may login to the Agent's site to see listing syndication statistics and reports for their listing.

* Agents and Brokers that are not using syndication through their MLS, are already provided with the functionality mentioned above through the Online Office, this information is only new to members who have listings that have been imported from the MLS.

Everything IS bigger in Texas...and I love it!

Recently, a number of Point2'ers headed to the Lone Star State for a series of presentations and discussions relating to MLS/Association implementations of the Point2 Agent solutions, and I was honoured to be part of the group. I've always had a soft spot in my heart for Texas, although wasn't quite sure as to why...until now!

Texas is, in one word, amazing.

Everyone we met was friendly, engaged, interested in learning about Point2 Agent, asked great questions, and very willing to answer questions about their business, their state, and their pride in being Texan. These conversations were great, and I learned a lot about the state that had intrigued me for so long.

Seeing some of the local attractions in Dallas also provided an opportunity for learning. We were able to quickly see Pioneer Plaza and the Mustangs, which looked interesting online, but were nothing short of spectacular in person. I can't imagine being caught in a real longhorn run!

Another local attraction: Whataburger. What-a-burger, indeed! Saul, having travelled all around Texas, was sure that we'd love the burgers native to the state. Interesting tidbit: the cows in Texas are corn-fed, while the cows here in Saskatchewan are grain-fed. This results in a very different burger taste.

We were also able to take in a Dallas Cowboys game in the new stadium, which was incredible! Not only were we there to see the World Record for the screens be presented, but were also in attendance for the first Cowboys win in the new stadium! I've never been a big football fan (I can feel the Saskatchewan Roughrider fans here in Saskatoon wince), but I must say that I think I am now hooked...

Another highlight: shopping with Marti! Being the purse and bag fanatic that I am, Sam Moon Trading Co. almost caused a fainting attack from excitement. Texans are correct: everything is bigger in Texas, and the purses are no exception! This one ended up being the winner:

Marti also took us shopping to Target, which we don't have here in Saskatoon. Unfortunately, we didn't have a lot of time to look around, but I was able to find some scrapbooking supplies that will be part of my Texas scrapbook!

My enthusiasm and excitement about everything (literally) amused Marti, a daughter of Texas, who made me an 'honourary daughter of Texas'. I gladly accept and am honoured.

Texas, I love you more than ever, and I will be back! A bumper sticker I picked up at a souvenir shop probably says it best:

I may not have been born in Texas, but I got here as fast as I could!

During the last few weeks our Customer Care Team has received a much higher than normal amount of support requests via email and telephone. During that time, you as a member may have experienced long wait times on the phone, and slow responses via email. I assure you that the Customer Care team is working phenomenally hard to keep up with the large volume of calls and emails, and will do their absolute best to reply as soon as possible.

Keep in mind that this busy time will not last much longer, and the influx of calls and emails will subside shortly.

I'd like to also extend a pat on the back to our Customer Care team for gracefully handling this record breaking amount of support issues, GREAT JOB!
